At Christian Brothers Flooring & Interiors, we recommend a care and maintenance routine to keep your new carpet looking beautiful and feeling plush. We understand you don’t necessarily have a lot of time to invest in upkeep, but you should consider following these simple and care and maintenance tasks for your carpet's longevity.
Establishing a care routine
Start by incorporating some preventative maintenance. Remove outdoor shoes before walking across carpet so you don't track dirt inside your home. Then, use a high-quality carpet pad, which will add additional support and softness. Finally, use only a manufacturer-approved appliance and vacuum your carpet frequently to remove dirt and other trapped allergens such as dander and pet hair.
Get a professional cleaning
It's not a bad idea to give your carpet the occasional deep clean, especially if they are in high-traffic areas. Contact a professional cleaning service or shampoo your carpet yourself. If you do shampoo them yourself, be sure to follow your manufacturer's recommendations for maximum effectiveness. Consider a deep clean at least once or twice a year.
Dealing with spills and stains
No matter how careful you are, you'll encounter the occasional spill. If you have pets or kids (or both!), your carpet is extra prone to them! Fortunately, many of our carpets are made with stain-resistant technology that helps keep spills from soaking through the fibers. Still, you will want to address any spill right away before it can become a stain. Consult our stain removal guide for more information!
